I believe it is about designing the everyday lives of people.
In 2024, most people live surrounded by artifacts. From the moment we wake up, these artifacts are involved in every aspect of our daily routines. 🪥Toothpaste is designed in tube form so that users can control the right amount and easily see how much is left. 🧻Dissolvable toilet paper saves users the hassle and unpleasantness of disposing of used tissues. 🚌Apps that provide precise bus times eliminate the need for users to wait endlessly under the scorching sun.
However, none of these conveniences were always a given. Toothpaste initially came in powder form, and even after it became a paste, there were hygiene issues with dipping the toothbrush into a jar of paste. In some countries, non-dissolvable toilet paper is still common, leading to messy public restrooms. Without apps that provide bus schedules, the anxiety and physical discomfort of not knowing how long you have to wait would be substantial.
So user experience design is about designing every aspect of daily life, fundamentally changing how people live their everyday lives☀️
